"Our family has used State Farm Insurance since 1978. We have been with Rick Hittle for most of those years. We’ve had a minimal claim record. A major hailstorm in June 2024 that totaled the roof. After stalling for weeks, State Farm sent an assessor over who assessed damage just under our deductable. State Farm’s estimate was $60 thousand dollars less than several roofing estimates I had gotten while waiting for State Farm. My repeated requests to have a State Farm, representative review the damage was treated by Rick Hittle as if I was totally unreasonable. I even called the State Board of Insurance to inquire whether it was reasonable to ask for a second opinion from our insurance carrier. Hittle adopted a victim stance as if I was being a “bully”. I paid for a licensed independent adjustor and was told that my claim was valid, and they encouraged me to pursue it. This resulted in State Farm stalling for a total of 8 months, which involved leaks in 4 different rooms as I was advised not to do repairs until the adjustors reached an agreement. Surprise, State Farm said that the hail damage was too old, and that though we had State Farm Insurance for all those decades, they weren’t responsible. Once it became clear that State Farm was not going to pay, I had to get a loan and pay myself. Hittle was NO help whatsoever. It feels like elder abuse to me!"
